On day 4 of Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred

My roommate’s mom gave her a whole bunch of workout videos when she came for Mother’s Day. Poor thing.

I’ll only be able to get through the first 10ish days before I leave for France. In case anyone is thinking about getting in shape, I’ll post before and after pics (if I’m brave enough XD) before I leave. So far I’ve already lost 3 pounds.

Various works by Tae (たえ)
Tae is a Japanese artist who often paints portraits of women in her works. Her minimal use of color as well as the movement of shapes and digital brushstrokes across the portraits create a clean, seemingly weightless space within which her characters exist.

Whole-Apple Apple Pie!

My Recipe

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cut the top off and cut a square around the core. Pull it out (with a spoon if necessary).
  • Scoop out the insides and mix with brown sugar (to taste, I used 1/3 cup for these three) with a pinch of ground cinnamon, set aside juices left in bowl.
  • Cut dough into 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch slices (I used the store brand-ready-to-go kind as I’m hosting a dinner party and have other dishes to make!)
  • Basket weave the strips into a pretty topping.
  • Mix an egg white into the brown sugar mixture left over from the apple filling.
  • Brush on egg white/brown sugar. Place apples in deep pan with about a 1/2 inch of water. Cover in foil and bake at 375 for 15 min. Uncover, and continue baking for about 40 min or until tops are golden brown <3
  • When pies are done let them cool on a baking rack for a minute or two then serve with vanilla ice cream for a creative down-home American dessert!

ancientart:

Ancient Celtic bust of Marcus Aurelius, dates to about 180 AD, from Avenches, Switzerland.
Through his portraits, the emperor is constantly in attendance over his vast empire. The hair is combed back from the forehead, representing a typical Celtic hairstyle and reveals the Gallo-Roman origin of the artist. Hammered from a single sheet of gold, the bust is a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
